Do You Know - Jessica Simpson

Do You Know (September 2008) - Jessica Simpson

Jessica Simpson will release her highly anticipated debut country album, "Do You Know", September 9, 2008 on Columbia Nashville. Produced by Brett James and John Shanks, Simpson co-wrote all but three of the tracks featured on the disc, including her current Top 25 hit single, “Come On Over.”
Simpson is certainly ready to come on over to country music. Recorded in Nashville, TN, this album gives listeners an inside look into the real Jessica Simpson. “Every single song is a piece of my heart … who I am,” comments Simpson. “I’m not what everybody thinks that I am. Believe it or not, I’m a simple country girl. I might buy expensive shoes,” she laughs, “But, I’m definitely a simple country girl and this album will hopefully give people a sense of who Jessica is again.”

After the release of her 2006 pop album 'A Public Affair', Simpson repeatedly stated she wanted to go back to her roots and do country music. She wanted to do country music because she has been brought up around country music, and wants to give something back. She started her country move by appearing in the music video for 'You don't think I'm funny anymore', by country legend Willie Nelson. She then went to Nashville to start recording her album. Her debut country single, 'Come on Over' was leaked onto the internet on May 27th. It was received with mostly positive reviews. The single also made chart history by becoming the first debut country single by a solo artist to debut on the country chart at the position of 41. The single was released to digital downloads on June 24th, along with the physical release in July. She has noted Martina McBride and Shania Twain among her inspirations. She also worked with Dolly Parton on the album, recording a duet entitled 'Do You Know'. According to the official Jessica Simpson website, the album is said to be released on September 9th, 2008.

Death Magnetic - Metallica

Death Magnetic (September 2008) - Metallica

Death Magnetic is the upcoming ninth studio album by American heavy metal band Metallica. It is scheduled for release on September 12, 2008 by Warner Bros. Records. The album will be the band's first to feature current bassist Robert Trujillo, and the first to be produced by Rick Rubin. It will also be their first studio album released through Warner Bros., although they still remain with Warner Music Group, which also owns Elektra Records, the band's previous label.
Death Magnetic, at least the title, to me started out as kind of a tribute to people that have fallen in our business, like Layne Staley and a lot of the people that have died, basically — rock and roll martyrs of sorts. And then it kind of grew from there, Thinking about death… some people are drawn towards it, and just like a magnet, [and] other people are afraid of it and push away. And the concept that we're all gonna die sometimes is over-talked about and then a lot of times never talked about — no one wants to bring it up; it's the big white elephant in the living room. But we all have to deal with it at some point.

The Musical - Nina Sky

The Musical (October 2008) - Nina Sky

“The Musical” aims to keep Nina Sky listeners in tune with the duo's journey since their first album. It takes just one listen to their new album—a savvy mix of R&B songs heavily influenced by hip-hop, classic rock and soul supported by intriguing, ethereal vocals—to understand why Polo Grounds/J Records signed the twin team. Besides arranging vocals, Nicole and Natalie penned each track on the album, at times testing their work of art on eager audiences before it was officially ready.
Nicole and Natalie Albino (born March 13, 1986) are identical twin sisters who sing under the stage name "Nina Sky". Their parents moved to New York from Puerto Rico and were divorced when the girls were younger. They were born in Queens and grew up in both Queens and Roosevelt Island sections of New York. Because their stepfather worked as a DJ, the twins were influenced by different types of music. When the sisters were only 7 years old, they wrote their first song, "Sisters", and by the time they were 10, they already knew that they wanted to become singers. The twins' parents were very supportive of their daughters' ambitions. Their stepfather even gave them guitar and drum lessons. They were taken to auditions and, on some occasions, they even performed on some showcases. The sisters wanted to devise a name of their own. In using the first two syllables of their names ("Ni" and "Na"), they came up with Nina. They then added Sky, which for them represented "the sky's the limit".
They continued to go to school and, in their spare time, worked as DJs. In the year 2000, they met The Jettsonz (Elijah Wells and Lionel Bermingham), a pair of music producers who helped them develop their own sound.
